Pat Crooks

PRAISE! Update on appointment at NIH: The day went well. They took 19 vials of blood, some for research and some for testing. The test results came back normal except my red blood count, HGB and HCT. They were all low but the doctor has decided to take the "wait and watch" approach, which is in agreement with my doctor. Apparently, some people live with MDS for years before it develops into acute leukemia. I have to have blood work every few months; and if there is a drastic change, they will start treatment. Until then, I'm trusting in the Lord and the doctors and I know that He is in control. Thank you prayer warriors, Pat Crooks

Glenn's Nephew, Robbie

I received this request for prayer from a woman on our staff. The young man she is referring to is her husband Glenn's nephew. Michie

Glenn’s nephew, Robbie, is 14 and was just diagnosed with bone cancer. Dr’s say its treatable with chemo for 6-8 months. They can’t operate. If they did he would become a paraplegic at best. He's about 6 foot 3 inches-he was growing to fast and he was having back pain. He grew 3 inches in 3 months. Every other week he has to have 5 days of inpatient chemo. He started chemo this past Sat. after getting the news on Friday. Please pray for this precious young man.

Sue Baker & Alene McDermott 01/17/09

Sue Baker (Lynn Verdone’s Vicki Hartford’s Sister friend): My friend Sue Baker (47 years old) has been having pain in her pelvic area. She has had many tests over the past weeks - most notably a PET scan which read hot in the pelvic area and the liver, indicating cancer in those areas. A biopsy of the liver mass was done and came back as non-cancerous, which contradicts the PET scan results. Cancer markers also came back negative. Doctors are perplexed and continue to attempt diagnosis. I would be grateful if you would add her to your prayer list. Lynn Verdone

Alene McDermott(Lynn Verdone’s friend): Alene who was diagnosed with both breast and Ovarian Cancer over 1 and 1/2 yrs. ago continues to do well, leading a normal life except for the chemo. Thank you so much for your prayers. Lynn Verdone

Fred Heyn 01/16/09

Here is the update on Fred Heyn, for your prayers: He is advised to have a double by-pass and and mitral valve repair. We are waiting to hear from the surgeon at Washington Hospital Center. The good thing is that his heart is strong and his health is good, so we pray for God's wisdom. He is not a candidate for a stint because a stint in one artery would permanently close the other one. Thanks so much for your prayers. Jacquie and Fred Heyn
